

About Helen Adams Rouce
Helen Adams Rouce was a dedicated educator whose teaching career began in 1933 at Booker T. Washington School in Sand Springs. She taught Black students in grades one through twelve there until 1966, when schools were desegregated.
After desegregation, Helen continued her commitment to education by teaching mathematics and science at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa until her retirement in 1976.
Beyond the classroom, Helen was a trailblazer in sisterhood and service. She became the first member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® in the Mid-Western Region to be honored for 75 years of continuous membership and service.

Eligibility Requirements
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
​
Plan to enroll in an accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) following graduation.​
Active participation in school, community, civic, or volunteer activities.
